About Our Client

Our client is a leading port operator with 77 terminals in 40 countries across 6 continents. With ongoing port development projects and investment in logistic parks and economic zones, they are clearly the leading player in the current market in terms of growth and development.
This position is based in a terminal in their Americas portfolio and is currently handling 1,3m TEUS a year. An investment programme is currently underway to extend the berth by a further 400m which will house a further 3 STS cranes. 

Mission

Supervise and control the activities of preventive, corrective and predictive, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical maintenance performed on gantry cranes, RTG, mobile cranes and STS Ship to Shore cranes, coordinating with operations and ensuring operational and productive continuity of vessels loading and unloading, in an environment of effectiveness under the company's quality and safety standards.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate in the development and control of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Plan for gantry and mobile cranes and associated facilities to ensure the availability of an adequate maintenance plan for the proper functioning of equipment.
  2. Supervise and control the activities of predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance, coordinating with Operations the availability of equipment to ensure maximum operational availability of equipment and its facilities, minimizing interruptions in operations.
  3. Supervise and control the activities carried out by specialized contractors (eg: equipment suppliers, repair of crane lifts, etc.) to ensure that repairs are carried out according to the specifications and that the equipment is in proper operating conditions.
  4. Identify and analyze mechanical and electrical failures of the equipment, determining its causes, to collaborate in the development of technical solutions to ensure the timely reliability and operational availability.
  5. 5. Carry out the implementation of minor modifications and detailed engineering in equipment and facilities, proposed by the area or required by Operations to ensure the changes in equipment and facilities that meet needs and increase their efficiency.
  6. 6. Supervise and control compliance with the standards and practices of quality, environmental care, energy, safety and occupational health and social responsibility participating in implementation and improvement to ensure compliance with current standards (RS, ISO 9001, 14001, 28000, 50001 & OHSAS 18001), making staff aware of their responsibility.

Skills Required

  • The position requires an Engineer, preferably Electronic / Industrial or related career.
  • 5 years’experience in equivalent positions in port industry, with knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers and Speed Variators, proactive, with leadership, coaching, negotiation and skills and good interpersonal relationships.
  • Spanish and English language skills
