This year the seminar will focus on the handling of settlement process in different foreign jurisdictions, including but not limited to different sub-topics, such as suggestions on how to negotiate, timing, authority, missing parties, enforcement of settlements, concern about prejudice, terminating agreements, restructuring agreements, failure of agreements, formulas for settlement, mediation, alternate dispute resolution, extra territorial recognition of agreements, security and others. These issues are certainly of interest to the international maritime community and have an impact on the day-to-day practice of shipping lawyers, claims handlers, underwriters, adjusters, carriers, and all involved in the shipping business.
